Filligar - The new sound of Rock N Roll

Fresh off a national tour with the Counting Crows and a Lollapalooza kick-off show August 1 at Metro in Chicago with Alabama Shakes, the Chi-Town bred brothers of Filligar are coming to Rock the Rockies. This quartet is formed by the three Mathias brothers --Johnny, Pete and Teddy-- and their lifelong friend Casey Gibson. So three brothers with boyish good looks,  songs with catchy hooks and a rapidly rising star.  These guys aren't pumping out saccharine pop, but real classic American rock and roll.  They are young and fresh, but with a gritty edge that hints at the blues.  No wonder they're drawing comparisons to early Rolling Stones.

The music world has taken note of Filligar's young yet mature sound and careful songwriting (almost vintage in it's flare...these guys are bringing back the bridge). Heavy hitters The Black Keys and My Morning Jacket, and most recentl, the Counting Crows, have all given the nod and brought Filligar on tour as a supporting act.

Now the fellas of Filligar are hitting the road with their energetic live show, dubbed one of the best in the country by popular live music blog RSL, in support of their LP The Nerve.  Indicative of the band's  impact, .The Nerve was nominated for Best Rock Album at this year's Independent Music Awards. You can download The Nerve for free on their site.

If you're in Aspen this week, you're gonna want to check out these talented gents at the Belly Up on Monday August 13th!  Otherwise, you can check out the rest of their tour dates and other band news on their Facebook page or  Check out Music and Videos on their website.

KBS Photography - GG Staff Photographer

KBS Photography

KBS was selected in our "intern search" across America earlier this summer...and since then she has stepped into a great role with GG. She covers our events and she is constantly on the go --- THE most well traveled Gatsby of this summer for the staff. We enjoy her comprehensive vision and perspective on her subjects and her continuous search for the essence of the environment. We have put her in many events since we brought her on staff....now she is covering our needs and is available if you need any pictures....We always like to give credit to the crew and she deserves this feature as much as the rest of the bunch.

Katy brings Gatsby out of every situation we drop on her.

Enjoy...

Steep Hill Lab - testing, evaluations, and commitment

Steep Hill Lab

We were introduced to Steep Hill through someone that is well versed in the Cannabis Industry and one of the center points of the movement...Jessica Demoura. She contacted our founder last year to speak about the "message" that Grimey Gatsby was spreading......and she wanted to contribute and aid in the advancement of our mission. We liked that....liked it so much that we have been in contact with Steep Hill ever since. They have been featured in some large publications:

Vice, Treating Yourself, National Geographic, High Times, & Rolling Stone

They are the forefront of the culture. From assisting the biggest MC's in California to their continuing education in Colorado, Steep Hill is pushing this industry forward and positively. They evaluate your medicine from flowers to edible to extracts....they can tell you the information you need to know. If you are a grower, MC, or patient - They are your best friend. Our founder, Hunt, has spent many hours on the phone covering botany, procedures for testing, and the creative design he is known for with Addison and their team. We were able to cover the Colorado Cannabis Cup with them this year:

The most recent collabo from SHL.....

We follow their moves weekly in our offices from the rallies & raids of California to the Seed production in Amsterdam. Steep Hill Lab is there and in the "know." If you want to keep up with their news simply click here. If you don't know what services they provide you can inquire with them here. The staff at Steep Hill Labs lives by a "hands on" approach to their work. They participate in the rallies, the meetings, and the street presence for their clients. They spread information to the patients about what's happening in the Cannabis World. They are Grimey Gatsby to the fullest....
