I lived in San Diego for many years in a place called Cardiff. Its a lavish little beach town with fish markets, lagoon front mansions, beach front bums, pro surfers, the elite Rancho Santa Fe mommies, and the Gatsby. Taking strolls down the beach was an everyday thing....take in the waves, watch the sunset, walk the dogs, meet the fellas, hug the girlie's, and most of all keep an eye on the fashion. I coached a youth lacrosse team and met a father (Jeff Kelley) that was "really making moves" in the sandal industry and "knew nothing but the coolest of the cool." With pro surfers surrounding San Diego like taco stands, its not hard to think that someone with a great vision and product could take over something so great as a "flip-flop." Sanuk has spread across the globe over the past decade and I have seen them in Aspen, Washington, Amsterdam, and Mexico on my friends and counter parts. Celebrities don their sandals across the globe and up and down the California coast. Comfort abounds any style they bring to the market. I used to have astro-turf pair for game days and some great "loafers" for the fall afternoon at the beach. Now-a-days I keep it comfy around the house in Sanuks and I have been known to drop a pair off as a gift for friends and business clients.
