Brews, Beats & Brims - Grassroots Colorado

The cats over at Grassroots Colorado  threw down in classic GRC fashion for their new favorite holiday, 7/10.   Celebrating the date, and the release of Denver glass artist Adam Grafius' new hat, Grassroots had their flagship store (at 2209 Larimer St in Denver) going off from 4:20 to 7:10 last Tuesday.

Here are some pics of Adam G's fresh new lid atop copies of Hitman Glass' Chess Pieces book, in keeping with the glass artistry vibe.  The hat features a killer geometric design, plus a super-heady satin liner showing glass work and dope embroidery on the bill (check it out under a black light!)

It wouldn't be a GRC event without live music, and this party was no exception.   Kruza Kid from Denver collective the Mile High Sound Movement got things going with his fresh rhymes, Fisk *TreeThugger* had all the heads noddin'  (check out GG's review of Fisk's latest EP here), Papa Skunk kept it low and grimey as per usual and Samples threw down a surprise set to close out the evening .  All the artists were sporting GRC finery, but Fisk and Samples incited envy by rockin' the samples of their own soon to be released GRC lids...you know you're gonna want one  (or both!).  All the while color conductor ChelseaLyn Graeber took live painting to new lengths, decking a corner of the store out with a brand new mural.

GRC's not known to let the people go hungry, so they kept bellies full with pizza from Magoo's Pizza Parlour and beer from Great Divide.  Both Magoo's and Great Divide's  brewery are just blocks  from the GRC store--- now you know where to score good eats and brews next time your in the hood to purchase new head ware.  While beer and pizza were free for guests, many attendees happily donated cash to  wildfire relief causes including the ASPCA, which is helping the four-legged victims of Colorado's wildfires.  GRC's business model is based on giving back, so you know the good times always go towards a good cause.

Be on the lookout for more photos from the party on GG's SmugMug
